ASU-Beebe Self-Study - February 2012
What is a self-study?
Periodically, universities perform a self-study, which is an evaluation of its effectiveness in achieving its mission and goals. The self-study is a comprehensive document, analyzing all aspects of the university.Who provides accreditation?
ASU-Beebe is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). We are accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), which is an independent corporation and commission member of the NCA. For more about the HLC and the NCA, visit What is the Higher Learning Commission?.Who is involved?
All who attend and work for the university are involved with the self-study in one form or another. Administrators, teachers, and staff combine efforts to evaluate the university. Students are also a significant contributor to our evaluation. Over a period of two to three years, we will work toward the completion of the self-study while preparing for the HLC evaluation team's visit to our campus. What is an HLC evaluation team visit?
In February 2012, the university will host the HLC evaluation team, who will perform interviews, review campus operations, and check all university records. They will discuss issues with students, administrators, teachers, and staff. The evaluation team will also review input from the community. After approximately three days, the evaluation team will present its preliminary findings to the university. Later, the team's evaluation and the university's self-study are carefully considered for official re-accreditation.How to navigate this website?
